Eiffel

JUNE 30

Another hot day at (30c) but dry air. Tomorrow, Thursday, forecasted to be (34c) with solid sun. And (30c) overnight.

Everyone knows this one. Arrived towards end of the day light. We took the subway from our place to Eiffel.

Taken as we were leaving. After we (all 3 of us) climbed the stairs to the second level.

These are called 'bateaux mouche'. They give tours along the river 'Seine'.

Does it fit her?

More posing.

Sparkles. Sorry, I filmed video sideways and I don't know how to make video upright. Move your head sideways or move your monitor.

France 2010

JUNE 29

Another hot day (30c). The humidity is low.

We taught we had recovered from time difference but it is sneaking up on us still. I think after tomorrow it should be better.

More of what we visited.

'La Tour St-Jacques' just at the end of our short street.

'Cathedral St-Eustache' a 7 minutes walk from our place.

The 'Pont Neuf' that links 'Ile de la Cite' to mainland. A 4 minutes walk from our place.

'Le Pont des Arts' where people are gathered to watch the sunset. Next to 'Pont Neuf.'

'Place de l'Institut'. At the end of the 'Pont des Arts'.

'Musee du Louvre' with glass pyramide. About 10 minutes walk from our place.

'Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel' next to 'Musee du Louvre'.

Very busy intersections. Next to the 'Musee du Louvre'.

JUNE 28

These bicycles are for rent. There are stations of bicycles thru out the city. I think the city of Toronto is planning to do the same.

This is the 'Tour de Saint-Jacques' at the end of our short street.

By walking around the neighbourhood found more services, such as restaurants, groceries, cell providers, pharmacies, shops.

It has been unusually hot (30c) and humid (80%). The remainder of the week is forecasted to be the same.

JUNE 27

Found a grocery store close by, but for the convenience in the center of Paris, with prices to match. The restaurant prices are even higher.

Returned to our place and ate.

Spiralling staircase we use to our 4th floor apartment.

Down.

Up.

The view outside our living room window.

We then went for a stroll. Here is some of what we saw.

Hotel de Ville.

The river 'Seine'.

Parking, no problem when you have a mini. The one in green.

Prepared for some serious tight spot parking. Check out the boat dock bumper at the front.

Still rolling and the best parking spot in Paris (no car in front).

Everyone deserves a rest.

JUNE 26

On the way to the Toronto airport we were blocked by motorcades of the 'G20 dignitaries', as refered to by the police officer. It was a little frustrating as we tried different routes but all were blocked.

After about 15 minutes the blockades were removed. Barb continued and arrived within 8 minutes.

The plane departed 1 hour late. The flight went well. Watched 2 movies while eating. Did not sleep a wink. I wish I had not watched the movies.

About 2 hours before arriving we heard on the PA system a request for a doctor on board. A doctor took charge. At the airport we had to stay in the plane another 20 minutes while the person needing medical assistance was transferred to an ambulance. Awful for that person. Don't know what actually happended.

We then picked up our luggage and met our driver. That part went very well even though the plane was some 1.5 hour late.

We arrived at our apartment and waited some 20 minutes at the front door with all of our luggage before the owner appeared. She was very apoligetic. We have a 2 bedroom place in the OLD part of Paris called 'Le Marais'. We can see the monument called 'Square de la Tour Saint-Jacques' at the end of our very short street. The streets around our place are closed to car traffic. We have many restaurants and shops.

I am now on a quest to find a grocery store. I need to be fed, again.

Hopefully tomorrow I will have pictures.

:-)
